(2005) I can't even begin to explain myself
Chaos. That's all I have to say. I'm not complaining by any means but I've been so unbelievably busy this last week and a half I haven't even had time to turn on my computer. After getting off the phone with my mom just now I realized that I should do at least a little bleep on here. I need to get to sleep soon because I need to present my work in a professional manner tomorrow morning. I have my "critique" which I didn't know was happening from the beginning. But it's alright. I'll show a picture at the end to give you guys a glimpse of what I've been getting my hands dirty with lately. I have a lot of fantastic stuff, I'm actually really happy with how everything turned out as a whole, and that's the first time I've been able to say that about my stuff. There were a lot of "happy accidents" as Charlie likes to say. I was really proud of myself today; I made my first light. I bought all of the ingredients for a hanging light and wired everything myself. I used a vase that turned out atrociously for it and now it looks fabulous! Junk to treasure. Funny how that can happen. After tomorrow we start setting up for our final exhibition which is a WAY bigger deal than I had ever thought. I'm so very excited for this. All of the design groups (furniture, interior, and architecture) are getting together and showing all of our work that has taken place in the last 6 weeks. Next to our studio there's this "glass salon" that's part of Denmark's Design School where the show will take place. It's a giant glass room with a glass ceiling and glass walls. It's very cool. A few of the "famous" Danish designers will be at this exhibition as well, and I can't begin to tell you how exciting that is for us. I say "famous" because they're famous to Denmark but no one else in the world probably knows who they are. We've learned about them so I think it's very exciting. I'm sure I'll put up one more blog before I'm outta here. I'll let you know all about the exhibition. Be excited. So anyway, Bornholm was fun last weekend. I ended up going there with half of my class to visit Charlie's studio and to hang out. It's a beautiful island, very touristy unfortunately, but no wonder. We visited a castle one afternoon at the very Northern tip of the island. It was so peaceful and rustic... despite the tourists. We spent Sunday on the beach after it rained. It pretty much rained all weekend until Sunday afternoon. Oh well, a good time was had by all. All of us visiting slept on the floor in his studio. My back hurt a little after the weekend to say the least but it was worth it. We got to meet his wife and daughter, Elis, who's 16 but I thought she was closer to my age when I first met her. He let us make some beads in his studio too which was awesome. I made some fish and they're really cute. They have a stray cat that invites himself over randomly who was theeeeeeeeeee nicest cat I've ever met (because I MEET cats, I don't just see and pet them I guess). He curls himself up in a ball and sleeps in the entry of Charlie's studio, which is just enough bait to get kids over there to 'pet the kitty' and the parents to buy things. "Whatever it takes to sell my stuff" Charlie told me. He put a "Tilbud" sign next to the cat too which was even funnier; it means "special offer." What a character. We ended Saturday night with an INDOOR barbeque. There's a first time for everything I guess. Charlie pulled in 2 picnic tables and had 2 disposable grills inside his studio. It was so hilariously smokey, nearly intolerable. But the food was good. I'm really tired so I must go to sleep. Here's a picture for ya. It looks deceiving to me, I feel that I have a lot more work than what is shown here. Note the light hanging above me and say WOW!
Yes it's me but my pictures get distorted when I upload them on here. Just laugh. I do. Because I'm not feeling ambitious right now, the close-ups will come later. Ha det.
